One of our 9 week old speckled sussex chicks has an enlarged crop. It feels like a water balloon. It is for sure getting larger. She does have access to chick grit. She is on medicated chick food. Is there anyway I can help her?

Also, if you do think it is the crop, you can take the food out tonight and check in the morning to see if there is any change in size.

If it has expanded after removing the food, it may not be the crop.
If it has stayed the same or gotten smaller, then it is likely a crop issue.

Thank you everyone! I will have to take a picture when I get home tonight. I did take the food away and left the water but unfortunately she did have access to chick grit. She ate A LOT of the grit and now I can feel it in her crop. On a positive note, her crop did look smaller. I also had to take the bedding out and put towels down because she is eating the bedding. Is that normal when food is taken away? Any suggestions on how and when I should reintroduce food?
