Environmentally Unfriendly Pets

LOL Your head must be ready to explode.

Actually, saying that animals are not equal to humans could be used as a very good argument for our caring for animals and making certain that they have humane treatment. Because we have morals we should seek to be good users of our land and resources. Saying that we are equal destroys any reason to care about animals.

If we want to eat meat then it must natural for us to do so. Cows don't willingly go hunting after all because they don't desire a nice, juicy piece of venison. Some humans do. No human would if it wasn't natural for us to at least decide if we should eat meat or not. Maybe you can ask why she is so antinature.

Maybe you can ask her if the colonization of other cultures and forcing them to abide by foreign laws was right. If she says no, you can ask why she wants to impose her morality on animals. Probably won't work to convince her but it might be fun to ask.

The whole carbon footprint thing is misconstrued. The depletion of the Ozone is largely caused by the hundreds of rockets they've poked threw it, while sending up satellites. Those wholes are not self healing. If the Ozone was intact the air would purify it's self in lamest terms. Growing conditions would be better, & we could feed the planet. The Romans spent 200 years salting the fields in Europe(which is when the plagues began) Now they dump (spill) millions of gallons of crude oil in the sea. Yet they look to pets & farm animals in an attempt to limit carbon emissions. The hole thing is a hoax. I do appreciate the OP's intentions. (If my dog wasn't eating that stuff they scraped of the carcass, they would find some way to slip it into human food)........................For the Vegan's, It's proven the development of intelligence, and brain development is do the consumption of red meat.

I just came across this post and wanted to add my own two cents. I would be hard pressed to give up my pets, I have more than most people to begin with. However if it made that much of a difference I would consider not replacing my current pets with new when they die, even though I love having animals.
The thing is though there are bigger contributors to the current situation than my having pets. The biggest problem, in my opinion is the human population on this planet. It really bothers me when I see people with more than 3 kids (I know I am going to be chastised for this), but this planet cannot support the rate at which the population is growing. There are varying views on how many people the planet can support, but from what I gather if it wasn't for fossil fuels the current population could not be supported. Any time population control is brought up people get very defensive. I think it is a bit selfish though, we are only on this planet for a very brief period of time so why should we say I do not care what happens, I will not be here, but our kid, grand-kids etc. will be and so will millions of others so shouldn't we try and make it better for the people to come even if that means changing our way of living. The old saying is leave the place a little nicer than when you got it, which I think is a good way of looking at the planet.
I really tried to be polite about this as I did not want to offend anyone. This is a nice and polite post and would like to keep it going, and I know people have their own opinions and this is mine, agree with it or not I just hope it makes at least one person think.

You will not get flamed by me! I have one biological son, one adopted, and 5-6 foster kids at any given time. I have 1 more unknown gender in the oven so to speak. I am conscious of population density, yet feel the need to help, mold and teach those who will help change the future of my kids, grand kids and future generations. So I am up there with you 100,000,000,000,000%... give or take a couple of points.

The future is here. This is the answer to the "global clean-up". An amazing piece of machinery, that has enough of a "brain" to know what's good or bad,,,,,,,,to eat,,,,,,,,,,,,,including you,,,,,,,,,,,,,,trust no one,,,,,,,take no survivors.

I see y'all talk'n about the vegan diet. Lots of vegans suffer from B12 deficiencies because our body doesn't process/absorb veggie B12 like B12 from meats. If you are always lacking b12, you'll wind up with something called pernicious anemia. I'm not saying eat a ton of meat, but "How can you have any pudding, if ya don't eat your meat?"

Dogs rule! oh yeah chickens rule also.

Reminds me of some lyrics in a michal franti song...

Well politicians got lipstick on the collar
the whole media started to holler
but I don’t give a @#%* who they screwin’ in private
I wanna know who they screwin’ in public
robbin’, cheatin’, stealin’
white collar criminal
McDonald eatin, you deserve a beatin’
send you home a weepin’, with a fat bill for your Caribbean weekend
for just about anything they can bust us
false advertising sayin’ “Halls of Justice”
you tellin’ the youth don’t be so violent
then you drop bombs on every single continent
mandatory minimum sentencin’
‘cause he got caught with a pocket full of medicine
do that again another ten up in the pen
I feel so mad I wanna start a peacefull revolution
