I've been gettig this all night when I click "recent posts"... what gives?

If I've gotten it once tonight, I swear I've gotten it 10 times....

That's been a problem for about a year. We think it happens when a bunch of peeps hit the "recent posts" link at the same time.

I've shortened the "recent posts" time from 24 hours to 3 hours again to see if that helps. We're also working on a way to cache the page so it doesn't have to regenerate every single time someone hits the link.

Just to put this into perspective, there are times that page (just that page) gets loaded about 40 times a minute... and that's not considering all the other pages being loaded at the same time.
