ERRRRRGGGGGGGG TEENS...they think they know it all...

My stepson may be a stinker, but he gets good grades for the most part. He is 14, still not totally familiar with the evilness of being a teen. He palys a lot of video games and is a smarty pants for sure (ersh) but he knows whats expected ofhim in the grades.
MY kids dont even know how to run the DVD player...never have let them play vidoe games and probably never will. I expect better behavior and activity levels than they get from games.

It really does that? I have never played it. I guess its a good thing my kids don't play it either. I'm getting some really good ideas for when my teen goes back to school. He wants to be an engineer when he grows up but at this rate with his grades he will never get there. He is smart as heck. I really don't get what is in or not in his head if he wants to accomplish these things.
 
My oldest son was a handful too! I had to actually pull him out of school and tell the school that I was home schooling him. I was ready to go to jail. I was a single parent at the time and had to work to pay the mortgage. I told them that I was not capable of dressing this 6ft 170lb. boy. That didn't help me out at all. They didn't care if I could lift Aaron or not. To make a long story short. Aaron did not graduate with his class, BUT he did go back and get his G.E.D. He told me that he was sorry for what he did. I told him that I was proud of him for going back. He now has his own concrete business. It was one of our life lessons. Good Luck to you! DJ
 
I'm going to gently suggest that it's not quite books or video games, but a lack of time management skills. I have quite a few students who play videogames, but also get thier work in on time. With my kids we use a timer, they give me 30 mins of serious work I'll give them 30 minutes of play.

On a sidenote spyro the dragon gave me motion sickness from just watching someone else play it. First and only time for that.

Our kids get 20 - 30 minutes during the school year for video games but not until everyone is finished with their homework. We have four boys. Our problem is that our oldest says that he does his in studyhall. Which sometimes he does. He does almost all of his work but fails to turn it in

another problem is the way the schools want the work done... (i will have to confirm this with the school i just keep forgetting)..

my DS said that this years English teacher will only accept assignments that are e-mailed to her

he says that she does not like the wasted paper and the trouble of carrying all the papers home with her.... ummmm ok..

so this is why he NEEDS the internet and the computer to do homework.

I asked him what would happen if I disconnected the internet he said he would have to save all his work on a zip drive and use the schools computers and send it to her that way but he says he is only allotted 15 min before school to do this or 15 min after school and 15 min at lunch... but then you have all the students trying to use the computers at the same time... (i am thinking i should get him in the coop to shovel the poop cause he is sure talkin a lot of poop

he is in grade 11 but the class is grade 11 university prep course
