"I-um... Yeah I guess..." He stammered awkwardly. "Just some uh... cooking stuff." He said, quieter than ever, taking a frying pan out. What exactly did his dad think he'd be doing? Fresh food wasn't exactly always available. He pushed it back into his bag. He also had a spatula, whisk and other random things he doubted would come in handy, but it just proved how much he mattered to his parents.

Tess sat on the corner of the roof, long legs crossed at the ankle with her notebook in her lap and pen in her hand. Her left hand was glowing just enough to shed some light on her paper to draw, but not attract the attention of the border patrol guards. Her tongue stuck out at the corner of her mouth as her wrist flicked the pen's tip across the page. Her attention was focused on her paper, too engrossed in her drawing to notice her surroundings.
