Escaped quail

So I went out to feed and my dog, who is no bird dog, stumbled across one of my valley quail hens. She shot up to the roof & I haven't seen her since. I don't have a trap to catch her. I'm sure she will return but are there any suggestions for catching her?

I think maybe her food and a good fishing net will work. Maybe one that you use on a fish boat trip? A nice 6' fishing net should work

Yes, I second the fish net. If you can get her to not fly up you might be able to use a towel or something, but the fish net would definitely do the trick.

It would work if I could find her......maybe tomorrow I'll have better luck

I'd like to get her before my boxer or a wild critter does

I hope your little guy is ok. I have had to use the net a bunch of times when my seramas ran into the road. Please keep us updated.

So after doing a head count I realized I'm missing 2. I actually got my male back!!! I stalked this bird all afternoon with net in hand. I let the chickens out.....their the coop next door and eventually the quail went inside. I think he wanted back inside with the rest of them. Now I just need to find "her" again. She was sitting in the sun and my B/F went behind to net her when my dog comes running up. She flies back into the forest....That was probably my best chance. Hopefully tomorrow!
