You need any chicks/pullets, if we did let her hatch some they would eventually need a home.

I can always have more chickens.

It's a vicious cycle. If you need a few fertile eggs though, and want to drive to UW seattle to get them, or Everett if that's closer, let me know and we can see what we can work out. The smallish eggs I've been getting from my RIR/Cochin cross are now proven to be hatchable via my broody hen.

UW would be closer, uhg I'm very tempted.
I'll speak to the voice of reason and see what she says

Welcome to backyard chicken raising!

She is def. broody. It comes with the whole package. I just ignore mine as we do have fertile eggs. I just remove the eggs if I don't want chicks but again...I can have as many chickens as I want and am not limited as you are. Listen to the experts on how to break her. I have a cochin egg under my broody right now that is due to hatch this coming Tues. if all goes well. My broody has hatched guineas, as well, for me. Also...my hens go into ANY size box and we have a couple different sizes. depends on their mood I think. I have an orpington who will go into a banty nest box

That may be true at some points but not at others, as I said, they have everything screwed up so sometimes it does work for some people to hit "show pictures" but there may be other times when it's totally down.
I have had little chats with them about it several times and they can't seem to give me an idea on when they are going to get it under control.

week 21 and 29
Earlier today Domineak decided it was time to lay, she went in and pushed Emerald out of the box; when she finished she came out and Emerald started pecking at her chaseing her around a bit.
It wasn't anything major, mostly like she was annoyed at Domineak.
A little while later , Colleen collected eggs, Emerald never went back in the box, so the broodyness has ended about 24 hours after it began.

Well, I was going to post another update with pics and information, but it looks like they are doing maintainance yet again and nothing is working, UHG!
Keep watching, I'll have another installment of the ongoing drama, that is my chickens, as soon as they get things working again.
