This may be the last Pic post in this thread unless I get a new camera.

I took this shot of the crew yestersay, still with silver hardware cloth.

Comparision of the older girls and younger around the same age, colleen thinks the younger ones are smaller...

Whats concerning me more is the color of Winnie's comb, which continues to be too pink

When my camera broke we took it back to Best Buy and come to find our we had purchased the extended warranty and ended up with one much better then the old one which was the "top of the line" at the time we purchased it. The new one, replaced for free, was about half the price of the one that broke! Please tell me this camera is still under warranty!

This has been such a great thread.

A few things on that.
I never get tired of talking about this and I hope it will help anyone who reads it.

There is a law called "The implied warrantee of merchantability" SP which says: Any product purchased must work as intended for the average amount of time of a product of that type or the retail Seller Must Repair or replace it for free". (I have paraphrased) This law cannot be negated by any Store return policy, and the only way to disclaim this law, is to write in big letters directly on the item "AS IS"

Despite this law, the camera broke because I dropped it, it is not under manufacture warrantee, and would not be covered under any of this because it was my fault

We are talking about getting another camera, we will see.

But I again want to emphasize, that law covers all 50 states and applies to all retailers on all products Unless they are sold "as is"

I worked in the retail business for a while and know what retailers do in order to try to trick you into not getting what are legally your rights on returns!
There is no 30 day or 15 day policy in any retail store in the United States, despite what they post on the wall.
You do not need to go through a Manufacturer to get it repaired or replaced, the law is specifically for retailers and not the manufacturer.

When doing a return on a defective Item at a retailer that is beyond their posted policy, save yourself some time and ask for the store manager or store director, they know the law

Sorry, Just my little tirade

Wish it could help me but, it can't.

Thanks for the reply ozark

Oh and btw, my nearest best buy is full of inept people with no idea of customer service, so i have to go the one farther from my house to do business.

so sorry, barg. You do what you have to do and we will wait...maybe not patiently...ha ha. Good luck, please post anyway even if there are no pics. Let us know how the girls are doing.

We have decided we will buy a new camera.
There is really no other option since we have 3 kids, we have to have a camera.

I'll be inundateing the board with more chicken pics as soon as I get the new one

I still can't figure out if the older pullets are more interested in watching the younger chicks, or if they just want to get to the few dandelion greens in the extended run, either way, they spend allot of time at the separator wall staring in.

Looking for any opinions on that pink comb of Winnies(see pic above)
Can't raise chicks without asking at least once... can you?

I am so glad we get to continue on the adventures of Esther and Winnie! I wish I could help you on the combs but I don't have that breed so I will keep my mouth shut. LOL

Thanks again ozark, I think i'm down to an audiance of one hahaha.

Still havent gotten the new camera, posted a new subject asking about winnie's comb etc...

Chicken update: Turmoil in the chicken house.

I brought the chicks in early today and moved the pullets into the extended run so I could move the coop.

I didn’t take the whole thing apart (as it’s designed to do)
I just pulled off the roof, cleared out all the old bedding, put in new bedding and moved it to a spot where the pullets could get some greens.

In the process their rope night light got pulled out of its normal position and was hanging there.

Bed time came and I could see all the pullets going up to the house and then coming back out, I went out to investigate and Hazel was at the door frantic and clucking at the misplaced light.

I pulled the roof up and put the light back in, as close to its former spot as I could.
The chickens then started to pile in, all looking at the light and clucking in disapproval.
It seems I didn’t get the light into the exact spot it used to be in.

Eventually they calmed down and took their spots on the roosts, but not before spending about 10 minutes clucking at the light.

A pic of the old spot it was in /rplt.jpg
maybe tomarrow ill use the pic to align it perfectly for them

For Continuity, I have copied the contents of my other thread to this thread.
I started the other thread so that I could get more input on this topic, and since this thread does not seem to generate a lot of response it was necessary.

You can change your signature under the tab called Profile

.

As for identifying, it's hard to say when you don't have a bunch from the same group to observe because different lines can often develop slightly differently. Hopefully somebody can figure it out!

I'm at that point where I fear that Ive gotten 2 roo's.
Winnies comb still looks too red for her age uhg!

I did just read about your loss, and posted a responce in your thread.
Hope things get better for you
