Euskal Oiloa ( Basque Thread)

I was having trouble finding information on these. Are they a hybrid or are they a breed?

They are a breed from Spain.

Go to the first post and click the links in Skylines signature line.

Great chickens. Mine are almost 5 weeks old.

Ron

Edited to add: one of five or so? The ones here now are Marraduna.

Thenks. I like their looks and everyone is raving about their temperaments, foraging ability, etc. They sound quite wonderful, actually!

I was asked about them yesterday by a friend, so I thought i'd try to find about a little more about the breed.

First group picture. Can you tell the Cockerels? I think I can. Also, One of these things is not like the other...Can you tell which one?

Second picture with my guesses and reveal of the one not like the others:

Did I guess correctly?

Ron

Thanks! They are great posers.

Cream Legbars are not very common. Since they look a lot different when they get older, it would not be easy to figure out what they were at 4 weeks old.

The one in the picture is the pullet. She has a bit of a crest on the top of her head. I have 2 more pullets and a Cockerel that are 2 weeks old. I should be able to breed them starting this Fall.

Ron

Edited to add: Oh, I am going to breed the EO Basque too.
Great pics Ron! I should try to get my little ducks (chicks) in a row for a shot like that. I did pick out your little stranger, but couldn't get the breed.

Mine were from the Easter Hatch, too. They're 5 weeks old, and it looks like 3 boys and 3 girls. I wish I had a properly colored male, but no such luck.

The three males: one very gray, one very white, and one very dark brown

I have three girls, two which look nearly alike and one which is lighter and had white wing feathers as a younger chick.
