Euskal Oiloa ( Basque Thread)

Pics
Sorry everyone for not posting much lately. Its been one of those starts to the week. I've started letting all flocks run together and its absolutely beautiful watching everyone run the fields and woods together.

I bet they look gorgeous, all colours and shapes and sizes! It's so nice when they can be free.

Here's a new Euskal Oiloa Website

Great site! I can't wait to get my eggs this fall. The last group of hatches from this spring (Barred Olive eggers and Silver Penciled Rocks) are headed outside to the grow out pens in 2 weeks, so I'll have few months of a chicken-less house before the Basques arrive

Once the insanity settles here I'll be spending much more time reading on the EO's history.

I'm glad everyone is drooling and trying to learn more. There are no Euskal oiloas in those books. When I saw them on the breeder list nearly four years ago, I googled and feathersitebwas the only info I could find and I thought they looked pretty. I don't read or speak Spanish and I did find websites but could only look at pics. The Storeys guide has penedesencas but that is as close as we get!

If you find any more good sites, let us know. Things are hectic here but I'd love to get a few minutes to surf as the basque breeders assoc links are broken now and they had awesome info. Maybe they just moved their site.

Did you see any of the photos on any of the links? I can't find any other pictures besides those. Did u look at feather sites small selection of pictures as well? I've been so busy this week I havnt had much time to do any research or better yet hop on the computer. I agree, I like too know my stuff as well. This breed is so rare in North America and the infomation is so scarce that its really up to us to find and translate as much as we can to educate ourselves and others.
