Euskal Oiloa ( Basque Thread)

Yes its closed, but Eric Rivard who owned it is helping us with the breeding of the birds that we have.

I will be glad to be home all the time! I swiped DH's power cord for his lap top and it works on mine

so I can get back in for now! Yes had we known Preservation Genetique was closing that year, we would have ordered more Euskal Oiloas in Maradunna and Gorria.

Here's my little girls from this year, 3 weeks old tomorrow, but this was them at 2 weeks! I got a good picture of their backs and you can see the tiny beige shoulder feathers. I have no males to compare too at this age but they would have more white and grey/black and no red/beige/brown. One of them's head is slightly darker than the other and at hatch I thought I had a male and a female as one had a wider comb pad. Nicer this way though!

Curious little creatures!

Here's Blondie, the Grandma of all having a good dig around in some freshly scythed grass.

BlackBart welcome to the thread, shame you didn't get a more positive response last year, thanks for linking to that thread. You are among friends now!

Skyline, I was actually born in Cyprus in Sovereign base territory of English parents then lived in UK til I was 18. I just met a fellow East Riding-er who is on #1 your EO egg list and from within 15 miles of me! Can't believe it! Though there is a lady from Hull (20 miles away in UK who has a couple of my pet EO hen breeding culls), she lives an hour away, I have to tell her about the other east Yorkshire-ite!

Sounds like the move was well worth it, though lots of work. We are making sure whether interim property or dream acreage, there'll be no-one for the chorus of roos to bother!

Love that that Buckeye, he is solid!

Aww, sweet babies Claire, glad you got to hatch them! When do you move? I'm sure it will be such a relief. I really want to be done hatching for the year, but am tempted to try "Frosty", the new white roo with Sequin and the pullets that are starting to lay soon. Sure would like opinions on whether you guys think he can help with the marradunnas or not. I really don't want to bother if he will not add new blood and keep the marradunna colour in the offspring. Who am I kidding? I will probably try regardless, just to see what I get.

If I have to hatch them and ship them to you myself youll get some EO's.

So far my incubator is at a steady 100 degrees still air. I have been recording my temps since Fri 6/24 5:00 pm and have no fluctuations in temps. I have 4 grocery store eggs in there, 2 fish aquarium thermometers and a digital thermometer. My humidity is 27-29%. My Ebay person is supposed to ship my test eggs Mon. from Alabama. Let me know if there is something else I need to do. I'm not sure about a fan b/c my temps aren't spiking so do I need to bother with installing one?

Every incubator seems to have its own personality. From my past experiences with still air incubating. It seems I've had better luck running the temp slightly higher than 99.5. I've always ran about 102.00 in still airs and tried too keep humidity higher than 30%. But that's just how I did it. Controlled climates are a must for still air incubation.. Keep us updated on the hatch and good luck.

They're so cute Claire. I'm glad that power cord worked on your computer. Did you say theres a guy on my waiting list for the Euskal Oiloas that's 15 minutes from you?
When will y'all be moved to the new location for good?

Don`t know exactly when we are moving. When this place sells I guess! We have a nasty feeling it's going to be a while but we just dropped the price a little so will see. It's a slow year for farms apparently.

He's from 15 miles away from me in England but was smarter than me and is in California now so no -20*C for him!
