Euskal Oiloa ( Basque Thread)

I got weights on them this morning and the redder one is 7.4 pounds and the other one is 5.6 pounds. I really didn't think redder one weighted almost 2 lbs more.

Yup! And you're looking at them in person every day! It's even harder to tell about a bird from a photo...

That's your boy right there. Fine looking specimen.

Thank you but I have to give all credit to Juststruttin. For only 6 1/2 months old they are both very nice specimens. I will be curious to see if the other one catches up with the redder one in weight...

I know there is no way that I have accidently ended up with a rare breed of chicken but (to my untrained eyes) my pullets look so similar! Figured it doesn't hurt to post some pics and see what others have to say!

Yep. I'm letting them sink in... there are several things that don't look right to me. Do you know any history of them? (your birds)

I assume they are just mutts. I got them a couple months or so ago from a hobby chicken owner. He ended up with at least ten young birds that all had this coloring, but he said he didn't know what breed(s) they were (no I idea where he got them from). I thought they were pretty little mixes so I took two.

The capes are really black, the barring expression in the tail is unusual, and their under fluff looks smoky...

I'm going to guess that a barred bird (rock, maybe?) got in a pen with some red girls.
