If you put a small perch on the scale a lot of times they will sit on it long enought to weigh them. They need something to grab onto to make them feel steady and secure.

it appears the roosters of these gorgeous birds is considerably larger than the hens. what is the adult weight of both roosters and hens in this breed?

Just catching up on this thread- I have enjoyed everyone's EO pictures and stories! I hatched 7 EO's yesterday, they are adorable and all seem to be healthy. I am glad to finally have them here!
Just how do you go about weighing a chicken? Is there a special scale? I have a postage scale, but I don't think they would cooperate and stand quietly on the scale . . . .
Very happy with my shipped eggs from Skyline. 12 outta 15 hatched. All were fertile and only one was an early quitter.Two had internal pips then drowned...? Not too shabby at all! Now I get to watch them grow. Sweet...
