Euskal Oiloa ( Basque Thread)

I like all of your girls Laingcroft! I think you have a wonderful flock. Breed all of those beauties and then select for type! (I know - that's easy for me to say... and feed just went up again.

I had DH check on feed prices here and they seem to have gone up one dollar/50 lbs. I expect they will go up again soon. We get organic feed from Countryside Organics in Waynesboro, VA. Great people and feeds. Soy-free.

Hi Fellow Euskal Oiloa Fans! ... - / - the girls are all over the place in colors too. I've found the best (butterscotch yellow barred) come from the Skyline eggs, but there are also a lot of white legs and a single all white hen came from that batch of eggs too. My only Mille came from Greenfire. She is in the layer flock.

Opinions? Thoughts on who should be bred to whom?

Your recessive white pullet... is she noticeably smaller than the colored pullets?

Evidently rw pullets are pretty rare, James said he has only hatched males, and he's hatched a bunch!

Looks like a nice flock, Laingcroft!

My roosters all have pros and cons too.

Eddie is dominant. Nice comb, bright yellow legs, but lots of the smutty gray color on his chest.

Zuri has great size, but white legs, and his coloring is a little on the light side.

I have two others that I am not keeping. One is mostly white, the other has great feather coloring, but is very small and skittish. Wish I could keep three, but I'm already pushing it with the two I have chosen.

Your hens are very nice! I have one solid brown, one speckled, and one very small and light colored. I can't wait until they start laying (which will be soon!).

  Do you ave any pics of your solid brown hen? I'd love to see them if you have the time...

I will be able to post photos this weekend. Mostly, I am on my IPad, which does not work well with the new BYC.

You have seen the brown one as a chick. In fact, I believe you bet a moldy donut that she was a girl, and that she would be the first to lay :lol: .

The tentative    who has EOs where    list. :)

California -  lawatt; MonsterClucker; ronott1;

Maine - buckabucka;

New York - Dahlisgrams; Cydney83

Tennesee -  skylinepoultry;

Virginia - ChestnutRidge; Laingcroft; Maggiesdad; naturespace

It looks like we're fairly spread out. I believe someone in Texas was hatching. Maybe someone should send some eggs to AKMichelle in Alaska!

Last call on two Basque roosters going to the freezer tomorrow morning. One mostly white, the other with great color, but kind of small.

Hey MD! You can add me to your list here if you like, though I don't suppose I'm much help to you guys in regards to supplying eggs/birds. I have a flock of about 80 here. Not all are breeders, but I am really happy with the offspring this year.
Susan- Saskatoon, Sask, Canada.
