Euthanizing in a humane way

If we had an axe, my husband would have done it that way. We used what we had, to prevent her from suffering much mre longer.
 
I'm sorry this happened to your bird, too. I hope all your other ladies will do well, and hopefully you won't have to go through this again. I'm so glad that you tried to help her, and when that didn't work, tried to find the best way to ease her suffering. That's a hard thing to do.
 
My vet charges 10-15 bucks to do the deed. I can hold them while it's done, and they go quickly. It's money well spent, in my opinion.
Make sure someone who knows bird anatomy does it, however, as the needle has to go through the right part in the breast muscle into the heart.
