Ever Been Locked In?

I think DH felt so bad about locking me up he won't let it happen again (fingers crossed, lol).

Always worried about the door latching shut behind me, I heard chickens will eat you...

This is a seriously funny thread.
The wife is always the one who gets locked in. hahaha
Don't even think about telling me that it was an accident!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sometimes when I go in the coop and don't want the chickens sneaking out, I'll pull the door to the coop sort of shut. I do think about if it latches and I'm locked in,

BUT, I built it, so I can BREAK it if I need to, but I hope that doesn't happen.

Ya, well this thread was a lot funnier BEFORE I locked myself in (twice)
So, this morning I will go out and fix my broken door latch. (kicked the door open last night) First time I fixed the door, this time the latch.
I do need a new plan to get out from the inside. I'll have to take a look at it when I'm out there fixing it.

Q: What's funnier than the husband locking his wife in?
A: Locking YOURSELF in TWICE!

Oh man, I about spilled my coffee on that one!

Yep. 8:50 pm on a hot August night last summer. As soon as I heard the door shut "oh nooooo"

It was hot, tons of mosquitoes. 6 chickens in a 4x6 coop, and me.
Australian Shepherd outside the coop looking at me. "Brox, go get Daddy, go get Daddy!" No dice.

House shut up tight with central air on.

Chickens cooing/sleeping next to me in the hen house.

10:10 pm. DH finally came out, decided not to laugh... good choice!

Me "where have you been?"

Him "on the computer"

Me "you didn't realize I was gone?"
Him "I thought you were watching the chickens again"
Me "In the dark? what am I going to see?"
idunno.gif

My phone had went off next to him by the couch and he realized I was not there... "oh oh"

Thank goodness, who knows how long I could have been out there!

Well, long story short, we put a string tied to the auto latch door that runs from the latch into the coop and hooks on the wall so I can get myself out.
I've used it many times...

I also keep my cell phone on me everytime I go out to the coop as well!

You are not alone my friend.

Good thing you fixed up an escape latch. I'm so glad this has happened to others (not necessarily happy for them, but happy I'm not alone

Here's the latch I used: http://www.menards.com/main/tools-h...rdware/latches/slide-bolt-latch/p-2155905.htm

Will not lock accidentally and add a padlock would keep the 2 legged varmints out.

That looks like a good latch. Our coop and run have been cobbled together with very little material purchased, including the latches...my DH calls himself McGyver (anyone remember that show?), he can make anything out of nothing. Thank goodness he has now made things so I can unlock myself as needed (which better not be often, lol).
