You all would have gotten a good laugh watching hubby and I giving Colton a shower this morning! First off, I can pee faster than the water runs and the fact that the kid is over 6 foot did not help matters. He wanted to stand up, so I stood on the shower chair, straddled the hole in the seat and worked from there! It worked and he does smell a whole lot better than he did, but still needs another good scrubbing or two to get back to normal! I did get most of the glass out of his hair. I didn't realize how many slivers he had in there.

Oh that really puts the whole thing in perspective doesn't it. He is really a lucky young man. Raymond says high five on wearing his seat belt.

On a lighter note I bet that was quite a scene with you two trying to shower that kid

All he could do was stand there and watch his dignity wash down the drain. First Charmed meets him for the first time while he is wearing his underwear, then this.....

You shoulda taken video You could have "blurred" the vital places. You wouldn't even have to post it on YouTube...just hold it over him as blackmail a few years from now when needed.

Kidding, of course...

Mine would have insisted on showering fully clothed or staying rancid before he would have let me NEAR the shower...

I have never seen Colton care that anyone sees him in his underwear, but he has had to be a little freer with me than he is used to. His dad was out of the room yesterday morning when he needed to use the urinal.

He refuses to wear a gown, but I did convince him he had to at least wear shorts when he leaves his room. The reason he was in his undies last night when Kelly saw him was because the nurse gave him permission to go to his tests like that. (btw, he wears boxer briefs, no thong or anything.

) He did ask me to help him shower, Dad just insisted on helping too. Before I got on the chair, every time I reached my arm up to do anything, the water would run down my sleeves and into my arm pit! It worked much better from higher! Our bathroom at home may be half the size or smaller of the one here. I have it figured out that I can stand on the edge of the tub, but if hubby helps, he will have to just get in with him. Shoot, I may have to too!

Michelle

Do you have a bathtub at home with a shower head, or separate bath & shower units?

I'm wondering if he could sit on a shower chair at home (I have one you can borrow--I should be able to get it to you this Thursday or Friday if you want to use it). You could use this in the bathtub.

Then, put one of those handheld shower heads on instead of whatever you have. If you don't have a showerhead in the same bathroom as a bathtub, they even sell some that have rubber ???things??? (HA, don't know what to call them) that go over the bath spigot.

This would make it a lot easier for you or your husband to help him shower.

Mine is different from that --seems like it's bigger. I came across it somewhere and kept it in case my grandparents need it eventually. No reason he couldn't use it for now. I think (but am not positive) that mine can be configured with a seat back, too.

I think you can pick up the super basic model for about $30 but no reason to buy one, kwim...buying a bed will cost enough.

Leave it to Michelle to not want anyone to think Colton was running around the hospital in porno underwear!

OMG!!!! I choked on my coffee! You two are hilarious!!

The shower chair Roz is talking about is a life savor. Bonus that you already have the detachable shower head. Thats what we did for Raymond when he was in that position. I would rinse him and give him the soaped up cloth and close the curtain, that way he could clean "things"with his good hand

That poor kid was 12, I can't imagine poor Colton at that age !!
