Ever feel lonely when you dont have any PM's waiting for you?

My nephew went through the scouts. When he did the Eagle Scout thing, his mom sent letters to a ton of people.....Senators...the Governer...Attorney General.....etc..,.and got letters of congrats back from them. She had a whole notebook full of them. Pretty neat to look at when they had his party and ceremony.

My hubby never was in Scouts, but Tonna's hubby and son come from a long line of Scouts and started with Colton at a young age. Hubby also became a leader, went to camp every year (except this one) and is an honorary Warrior in the tribe. He has had a lot of support. Not only is it good for job applications, as an Eagle, you enter military one rank higher automatically. I will tell Colton you are proud of him, I really am too. He has put a lot of hard work and hours in over the years!

I was in Girl Scouts when I was younger also, but didn't take it far. Destiny was also, but it doesn't seem like the girls have near as good as program as the boys. Now, girls want to be in with the boys and even some Moms have been tapped into the tribe and I just don't think that is right. We mommies have our place in Boy Scouts, but we also need to know where our boundaries are. There are members of the tribe that wear a single white tear with their paint to signify the day they allowed women into the tribe. Colton is considering wearing one also since he is old enough to now.

Yep, they do that for our boys too. Most of the time a Representative will come and present them a letter themselves. We are fortunate to have a very supporting community for the Scouts. There are 2 active troops here. I think our troop alone is going to take around 30 kids on Sunday, not to count the 8 who went earlier with a different troop. I think the other Trenton troop (Freddie's) is just slightly smaller than ours.

We will be planning a ceremony soon. We may wait for Freddie to catch up (he is sooo close to being done) and have their ceremonies together.

That would be very sweet!

Well girls I heated up the house by baking Rhubarb Oatmeal Bars. I still haven't stared any of my 3 salads. I am procrastinating terribly today

When do you need to have the salads done? Those Oatmeal Bars sound wonderful!

How is Raymond doing? Will you get to see him over the holiday weekend?

I still have all day tomorrow to finish them and load the camper. I just can't seem to get my butt in gear today. I don't even know whats for supper yet

I just got an email from Raymond. We really wanted him to come camping with us over the fourth but he has plans with his Dad. We are hoping to take him to my Aunts cabin some time in July. We can do it on Kenny's tues/wed/thursday off so Chris will be at work and Raymond won't feel bad about being gone.

Here is the Oatmeal Bar recipe. It smells good, but I haven't tried it yet.

RHUBARB OATMEAL BARS

Crust:

1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 1/2 cups rolled oats
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups flour
1 cup butter or shortening
1/4 teaspoon baking soda

Filling:

3 cups chopped rhubarb
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla

Combine all ingredients for crust and mix until crumbly. Pat half of the mixture into a 13x9x2 inch baking pan.
To prepare the filling, combine rhubarb, sugar, cornstarch and water in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil; reduce heat to low and continue to cook, stirring frequently, until mixture is clear. Stir in vanilla.

Pour filling over crust. Sprinkle with the remaining crumb mixture.

Bake for 20 minutes at 350°F. Allow to cool before slicing into serving sized bars.

Thanks for the recipe! I will add it to the cookbook Destiny and I have going and try it sometime!

It is too bad Raymond can't go with you. When Raymond is with you, his dad wants him around holidays, I would think the same would apply when he is at his Dad's. You should get visitation! Who all is going camping this weekend?

I agree, but I have had him the last 2 fourth of Julys. But I really was hoping he could be here this weekend. My in-laws are going and my MIL family from out of state, most of whom I haven't met me or Raymond yet, thats why I really wanted him there. Also his Grandma was hoping to show him off.

Those bars are super simple. I did not have any nuts so I jsut used extra oatmeal. They turned out just fine.

Chris is a butt about me getting any visitation during the summer though. He see it as his time. Realistically he could see Raymond every other weekend during the year and he chooses to see him less than once a month

When he moved back to Havre he promised Raymond he would see him more because he would be closer, he doesn't.

Yeah, I know. We have already established that!

I was just being mouthy about him. He needs to meet Kylah's dad! Raymond will one day grow up, wake up and kick his father to the curb and you can sit back and smile and point out that he did it all on his own. Raymond has that heart of gold and doesn't want to hurt his feelings right now. He'll get fed up one of these days.
