My oldest DD has to haul water. What a pain..they have to borrow a trailer and tank every time. Cheap water....but a hassel non the less. Do you have rain barrels out to catch the rain?

never used a rain barrel? What would you use it for? A type of system to water the animals? We get our water from the pond we live on-you really need to visit when it's freezing outside and our septic system freezes and backs up-Let me tell you there is nothing like trying to sleep to the fresh smell of poop wafting through your nose! My poor DH has to climb into the nasty basement and clean the pipes or defrost them bleah! I wont go downt here!

Luckily my FIL left us a water truck when he quit farming. I am not sure of the year but I am sure it is older than I am and I will be 39 in a couple of months! It isn't pretty and it smells like mice, but it works!! We have a spring 3 miles away so our water is free. We don't get enough rain for rain barrels, at least I don't think we do. I should try it though because every little bit helps.

We use to catch rain to wash and rinse our hair...You could station a tank next to the garden. We have 2 wells that are fed from the barn roof and the house roof. That is what I water the garden and the animals with.

H'mmm - about armadillos. They are very ugly, very stinky when dead
sickbyc.gif
, very noisy if they are in the woods as they are digging around for something to eat and they are easily spooked. It is said around these here parts that when a car approaches an armadillo it will jump straight up in the air. Don't know if that's true, as the armor on the dillo has to be pretty heavy. They have weird little sparse hairs here and there. I don't like 'em, and we have an overdose of them in Louisiana.

They don't eat chickens, do they?
