It's okay, my kids are the same way most of the time, and they are older and should know better! I have to specifically tell them to do something or they won't. Someone could be out of food and water, but unless I tell/ask they pretend like they don't notice or whatever. Except the chickens, Colton does take pretty good care of them since they are theirs.
Thunder did really well. He barked at the cats, but they didn't back down and he didn't go after them. (he was also on a leash). I didn't even take him to the backyard to the birds, decided I would just keep him away, if he started around the corner I would stop and say "No" and he would turn around. He did sniff the goats, turkey and guineas, but showed no interest. He will not get on the furniture unless you invite him. He has a bladder of iron and patiently waited for me to take him out this morning. I know what you mean about puppies, he is like an owner's dream. Someone has put a lot of time in training that dog, it must have been hard to decide not to take him back.
The kitten is now 6 days old! Still going strong! It is eating more and getting active, so I am holding out hope for it. It is the yellow and white one and once it gets a little bigger I think it will be a beautiful kitten. It still sleeps on a heating pad and curls up with a couple of stuffed animals. If it makes it and is a girl, Des wants to name her Reba. (after the theme song). Right now I have just been calling it Solo.
