NY your freshman is grounded? Do tell? Mine is in serious trouble right now too.

It goes something like this............

me- Raymond do you have any homework?
him-No.

This goes on for a few weeks. Then...

me- Raymond why don't you ever have homework?
him- Cuz I don't.
me- You must have some assignments. Are you getting them done in study hall?
him-Must be.

Then a report from the teacher comes....

me- Raymond you are missing 5 assignments in English.
him-No Im not.
me-I have the report in black and white. You are missing 5 assignments.
him-Not true.
me

- How can it not be true the teacher sent this.

Show him report teacher sent...

him- Oh I have that done.
me- Well that's not what this says.
him- Thats because I haven't turned it in.
me-

It was due August 31!!!!!!!!
me again- If you do not get theses 5 assignments TURNED IN by friday you will not be going to the FB game.
him-Thats not fair!

Pass the Margaritas please!

Oh yeah I hear ya sisters! Colton is the same way. He usually gets it done, but waits until about 9 pm the night before it is due! He will show me an assignment and I am like they can't possibly expect you to get that done in one night! He says, they don't. I have had the assignment for 2 weeks now!

I am not used to that. Destiny was always an overachiever! But thankfully both my kids are very good students!

Thanks for the comments on the pics girls. I get jealous when I see pics of green lush yards and trees and such. We do live out on the prairie. We are really lucky though. We have a lot of open space and many buildings, all of which are plum full of very necesarry items of coarse!

I love it when it snows out here. We had 6 foot drifts during that storm though. I had to literally shovel my way to the chicken coop, after we tunneled our way out of the house!

Why you ask is our pickup in the middle of nowhere? Well the theory was if we park it in the middle of the open area it won't be drifted in the 6 ft drifts in front of the house. Unfortunately you had to get through those drifts to get to it and then find it was buried half way up the doors. We had to get the tractor dug out of the shop to pull it to the the driveway and onto the main road!

I am so glad my kids are grown. I guess that's part of being the "Oldest!"
Every mom goes through the same thing. Kids have to see how much they can push. The hard part is pushing back.

thechickenchick--I love love love the pics! We haven't gotten a good snow like that for years! Seems like we are getting more ice than anything the last few years and I absolutely hate that! With the cool summer we have had, I am nervous about how our winter will be!

Funny story (not at the time) that I hate to admit, but here it goes. The kids and I were home one day for a snow day. Colton was bored and wanted to ride his ATV. He was probably around 10 or 11. I can't remember for sure. He wanted to go up to see Destiny's boyfriend who lived up the road about a mile or so. I told him no, he needed to stay around here so we could keep an eye on him. It was still snowing some and we had already gotten a pile. I got busy watching tv and Destiny was on messenger talking to her boyfriend and after about an hour I had her ask him if Colton had headed home yet. He said he hadn't seen him. Crap. Next thing I know, Colton comes in covered head to toe in snow, cheeks as red as can be and panting. He had put his ATV in the big ditch across the road and had spent who knows how long trying to get it and himself back out! Destiny and I felt like idiots for even forgetting what he was doing! He was so scared he would get in trouble, he forgave me for being a bad mommy!

That snow storm was out of the ordinary for us too. When I was a kid we got 3 or 4 snow days a year. This past year DS was an 8th grader and it was his first one ever! I know it sounds crazy but I would like to see it come full circle and start snowing for real again! The moisture is so good for everything and we have all turned in to sissys around here. Nobody stock piles food or necessities any more, or has emergency plans. I remember when the power was off for days (I might have been 8)and we were the only ones with a propane camping stove. ok my freshmans grounding goes like this

DD-mom can I have 25$ for this that and the other thing? It should last all week for lunches and such too...
me: ok hunny but you owe me chores
DD: I know mom thank you
3 nights in a row she sneaks with friends plotting to hang with them and having daddy get her in town (he was already in town and she was not walking the streets-she was at a friends house-her BFF)
me 4th night-DD no more going to BFF house until you catch up with the chores mom has been doing for you-you need to earn the $ Im not rich.
DD-Promise tomorrow mom
Friday roles along-no chores done so far
DD: mom its the homecoming dance and I want to spend the night at so and so's house were going to do this, this , and that.
me ok DD-but you are going to be my slave ALL SUnday dont make plans
DD: OK mom can I borrow another 15$ to get into the game and dance and drink $
MOM"

yes you can but now your into for cleaning chicken pens with me besides your chores too..
DD: MOM!!! OKAYYYY
ME: I bought you that cell phone to stay in touch with me at all times right-of course mom...
called me once before the varsity FBgame and then not until the next morning at a different friends house-not the one she was supposed to be with-no calls until the next am-I knew she was ok I talked to the mom prior so I knew she wouldnt "let her do anything". She decided to go to her BFF's house instead at 11pm.
ME: DD why didnt you call??
DD: I fell right to sleep mom I was tired and hurt my knee dancing
ME: really-give me the phone
DD: why mom?
ME: NOW!
hands over the phone and I look she was calling and texting people until 1am!
I took her phone away since she cant use it the right way and grounded her from all friends and everything else for a week-shes dying w/o that phone and instead of her BFF's dad picking them up everyday to go to her house I leave work early everyday to get her-she is tp stay in Library to do homework until I get there! phew ok I think I summed it up-ok Im strict but if I dont keep it at a minimum. she will take a mile and speed away. She cleaned the house Sunday bigtime-wthout me saying a word..

There you go...this is what kids hate. The parents that are well versed in the "I will do what makes my parents crazy" syndrom. You know what they are going to do cause you've already done it!! I use to catch my oldest doing everything! She thought I was psychic or something. I just knew what to look for!!!
