Baked beans sound delicious!

And just for the record... I like hominy! It's just the boys that don't lol

Fried hominy is yummy! You never know...the boys might like it. Especially covered in bacon! Lol!

Chickenchick... post the recipe! You can never just tell of making something good and not post the recipe.

RULE #1. All recipes talked about on this thread will be accompanied by the original recipe, copied in full. No exceptions!

Edited to say...I sometimes put red pepper flakes in it also to give it alittle kick!

I agree!

Now for a few stupid questions...drain the hominy (or green beans), I assume? The fish, not breaded?

Ok I will dig it out and post it. It makes a huge batch and would be perfect for a senior supper. I would pour it in to gallon Ziploc and freeze it. Then just throw in a bag when we went camping. The more times it is reheated the better it is! For the record I love hominy too

Charmed I am not sure but this recipe may have came form you, a lot of them do

Bacon?!!! What can't you wrap in bacon? You can wrap water chestnuts, burgers, fish, make BLT's. I fry up alittle bacon and fry green beans, onions and garlic in the bacon grease then crumble the bacon on top. You can fry hominy the same way.

Crock Pot Beans (not the original as stated in Charmed rules, but the edited Tanya version!!)
lol.png

4 cups dried navy beans (one bag)
8 cups water
2 tsp dry mustard
2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup molasses
1 pound chopped raw bacon
2 1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/4 cup ketchup
1 large onion diced
Mix in crock pot. I put mine on low about mid afternoon, by supper time the next day ( yes they cook over night and the house smells so yummy in the morning) they should be done. If you want them for lunch, turn up pot by breakfast time and stir occasionally. If beans are a little tough cook a little longer. Super easy and the longer it cooks the better, also reheating only makes them better. Once I use really cheap greasy bacon and they were a little too greasy. I ended up spooning grease off of the top but they were still tasty. Holler if you have any questions.

Forgot to add that cooking time will depend on your slow cooker. My big one has a nice low setting and can cook all night. My small one though cooks way to hot to do that with but it isn't big enough for this recipe any way.

I love corn!! That sounds wonderful! I will definitely try that. I don't have corn on the cob, but I have some frozen off the cob in the freezer. I think that would work! Thanks!

So excited. A recipe that uses bacon and corn!

Well, the reason I use corn off the cop is because I actually "cream" it .. I cut the kernals in half as I cut them off the cob and then I take my knife and scrape all the "goody" off the cob (the rest of the kernal), and sometimes I add a little heavy cream to it ..

Yum ... I wanna go make some now !
