I haven't grown them either. I remember when Colton was really young and planted a zucchini seed in a styrofoam cup for scouts one time. He brought that thing home and wanted to plant it so I told him just to stick it in the front yard in one of the tires with flowers in it. That darned thing grew huge and vined all over the yard! My fil had planted several in his garden and none came up, but Colton had plenty for him to work up from that one tiny plant!

Awww

That's luck that they grew anyway! I have never grown gourds before.

It always seems like the ones u think will never do anything are the ones that get out of control. lol
I have always managed to do pretty good with growing gourds but I guess that comes from me growing them so much when I was a kid and got lots of practice way back then.

Yeah I always save the seeds and plant them the next year. Sometimes I will leave them out in the shed so they can go through the cold season just like they would if they had been dropped on the ground like wild seeds to. That way I don't take up too much room in my freezer but not sure it is really needed since I have grown from gourds that stayed in the house all winter.
They always seem to grow better if they have something like a fence to grow on.

Thank you everyone!!!!! I love you guys

Maybe Kenny will share some of his points with you.

I drink a 16 ounce Mt Dew in the morning, down from the 44 oz I used to get every morning. It really kicks me in the butt around this time in the afternoon, but I have been holding up well. I do still have a glass or 2 of sweet tea in the evening.

Heading out now to enjoy the beautiful weather. Everyone have a good evening!

Hey on the sweet tea thing. I found a recipe on my splenda bag so Kenny made some about an hour ago. It is REALLY good! Enjoy the weather. Bye to Destiny too!!

Michelle—cutting out the MT Dew would do it! If someone took my caffeine away the world might implode. (Darn it. You said the Chocolate word...)
Charmed – I need to go get my flu shot, too!
As for gourds: I grew Luffa/Loofah Sponges for a couple of years. Those things are like kudzu. They grow, and grow, and grow, and grow. I had vines that were 50+ feet long. They broke fences. They grew all over the top of not one, but TWO chicken houses and down all four sides. They grew out into the yard. They got mowed in spots. They sent out more tendrils. They were like creeping aliens. I had HUNDREDS of luffah sponges. There was no way I could use or even give away all of those! (Couldn't give them away unless I cleaned and bleached them. People are used to bleached luffah sponges, so those in their raw state don't look so appealing, especially if someone else hasn't dealt with the skins and seeds.) If you plant Luffah sponges, do NOT pack the whole packet of seeds. This was all from a FEW seeds.
Nat – you vacuumed and shampooed carpets on your birthday? Yikes!
Re: Glee...I dunno what Glee is. I must be out of the loop.

As for my day...busy, busy, busy. Still no coturnix, but one egg COULD have what is the beginning of a tiny little pip. Otherwise, no visible changes.

Tanya- I have not had sweet tea in 4 years but I LOVE my splenda tea! After a few days of it you will not be able to notice the difference except if you ever try sugar sweet tea again you will not like it lol. It is easier to make the change when your health is at stake (diabetes) but now most of my non diabetic family have made the switch too.

Rozzie- I can't remember if I ever grew loofah gourds but had a friend that did for a few years and always gave me some. Her vines took over just like yours did lol. It is amazing how big and long they can grow. I actually prefer the unbleached look. Just a nasty mess getting the skin off of them.
