aloha - good afternoon yall!

i am just finishing up with my chicken chores this morning - i cleaned 2 of the 3 coops yesterday

i love when its clean - i had to go get a new bale of straw yesterday - it was $19

i swear it was only $12 the last time

but oh -well we NEED it up here where we live now - it is sooooo wet all the time!

and on a worse note i dont like where we live right now - my neighbors are not too fond of my roosters

so i am looking to move - i talked to a friend who has a huge farm his family owns - the lower part that overlooks the ocean from 50' cliffs, is a 200 acre parcel (the farm totals more that 680acres) and there is a house way down the bumpy road that is off the grid - my friend wanted us to move to the house - i would have lots of room to garden and have 100's of chickens

but it is not going to work out

i am soo sad. now what - i think our other option is to move to an other island and i will have to sell all my chickens

- this wont be for a few months but i think i need to start to prepare mentally to say goodbye when and if the time comes.

so thats my drama right now and my 4 mo. old game hen got loose yesterday and took off! i could not catch her and the last time i saw her she was way up the street

sounds like everyone is having their fair share of drama this week as well - skunks

im off to go visit a friend, then home to pick up the fam and do a little afternoon trip to hilo - i need flockraiser and have to drive an hour+ to get it - only thing they have in town is medicated

i want organic!

but it is almost impossible! i get organic layer and cracked corn - but no high protein, low calcium feed

they wont even order it for me, i am on a waiting list for an organic all purpose feed, from the place in hilo - but they never call to say they get it in - so flockraiser will have to do -its my best option!

I'm excited for today - for the last few months I've been having secret conversations with a famous Australian artist about an upcoming gallery/work. Today is my first day officially working with her - I'm sitting in as her muse!! Eeeee! Something is so cute about being able to label myself as an artist's muse on my next resume!

Ah crud I've lost count of how many ducklings hatched... the little B*** aren't helping by running around a lot either. Hyper little guys!

I saw 8 ducklings shoot across the yard with a poor freaked out EE chasing them.

Morning ladies! Lots to catch up on. Has anyone ever told you gals you talk too much?

I completely missed Groundhog Day. Good thing somebody keeps up with the times.

I'm definitely ready for spring, although with a high of 81 today it already feels like it. I just hope it stays that way!

Glad you all are surviving the snow. Nat - where were MY weather update texts?

charmed - I think purple lives in TN.

Wyatt got his 6 months shots yesterday and he didn't even cry! What a good boy! I always hide behind the nurse and refuse to hold him down for them. I don't make owners hold their pets when I vaccinate them, so why should I have to hold my child?

I am going to pick up my Nigerian goats this weekend! 3 does (all bred) and 2 bucklings. I got a chicken in the mail yesterday from CA. He's an Ameraucana that carries the silkie feather gene. I have a hen that carries the same gene, so as soon as she starts laying I should have silkied babies!

RAIN RAIN RAIN....and lots of it. Now I kind of wish it were snow coming down. made it to the office soaked but safe.

Charmed -- Morning to you, ZyCam, I have used it and it did seem to work I guess. When I felt the cold coming on I started with the nasal spray. Can't tell you what would of happened if I didn't use it.

Big -- sorry to hear about your troubles. too bad the farm wont work out for you.

Elizabeth -- a muse sounds interesting and fun. from what i can tell from your posts you will have lots of fun doing this.

Kelly -- proud of your 6 mo. old doing good getting shots. ouch is all i can say. have fun with the new goats

Hope to get to see everyone today. I am off to moms for the weekend. It's going to rain all weekend so i thought it would be a good time for me and her to lay around and watch movies.
