Ever feel lonely when you dont have any PM's waiting for you?

Cockers are the worst about ear infections b/c of their floppy hairy ears...ugh. If it gets really bad sometimes we even do ear canal ablations so they can't get infected any more. Try giving him some Benadryl...it might calm him enough for you to get his feet done. Otherwise ask your vet for some acepromazine...it's wonderful stuff!

Michelle - I PM'ed Des...sounds like a tooth abscess to me.

What does the ablation do to cause it not to get infections anymore-IM not kidding when i say I will do anything to get it taken care of-His poor little ears smell all the time unless Im in there cleaning 3x a week also I shave all his hair around ears to stop the growth! the benedryl? Give me the low down -he's 32 lbs-how much do I give him?? how long after I give it to him can I try-when I see him drunk LOL

THANK YOU!!!

The ablation basically closes the ear canal so that the infection can't get in. It also renders them deaf, but most of the ones that are that bad are already deaf from the infections anyways. Give him 1.5 of the adult 25 mg tablets. Wait about an hour...some dogs get pretty drowsy and others act like nothing happened, so you'll just have to see! The acepromazine would knock his butt out for sure.

Just got back from the vet. Bessy is having to spend the night. they want to give her fluids and do some tests -- blood, urine, etc. I told them to go ahead. I did not take her to the vet I usually go to, I went to one in a town a short distance from here. Loved the way they cared for her and explained everything to me. the vet here in town just does not have good bed side, he is great with large animals, just not dogs and cats.

Lots of little pets issues today. I hope the guinea pig is better Michelle. And nat hope you get your cocker fixed up.

Yea, Bessy is going to be fine. She has hook worms. the doctor said her white blood count was up at 20,000 should be around 17,000. Indicates some type of infection going on. Put her on antibiotics, and treated the hook worms. keeping her the night to get the fluids in her and check her again in the morning. I feel so much better. my bosses dog had hook worms three weeks ago and was acting like Bessy, that's when they found the diabetes. Now I am worried about our office dog andy. As much as Bessy and him play I hope he doesn't get them too.

Des i am so sorry. I didn't notice this when i posted earlier. Poor Henry, do they what was wrong?

Thanks Robin! He was very dehydrated by the time we got him there but not really sure of the cause except for age. She did say though Kelly that his teeth were fine. We sure are going to miss him. He was a lot of fun to have around!

I am glad Bessy is doing well. I will continue to say a little prayer for her!
