Have had them lay in my hand too. And I swear my Buff Orp. waits until I go into the coop and then runs in and lays for me.

Wow! So glad you all like it so much... it was luck that I went in at the exact time and I just happened to have my camera. She was such a good girl... miss you hazel.

@HenCrazyMom - Haha, I appreciate your DS's questions! When they first lay a egg its kinda coated in mositure but as it gets into the air it starts to dry. When you pick it up right after its really warm... kinda freaky but cool.

Oh my gosh!!! I LOVED watching them lay! It was comical many times! BAHAHAHAHA!!!! One time one chicken was pushing and pushing, lost her balance, the egg popped out, she fell forward into the butt of the OTHER chicken laying at the same time! The second chickens egg fell out and landed on the first chickens head and the second chicken was pushed into the third nesting box!!! LOL!!! I would have never believed it if my head wasn't 12 inchs from the nests! My WLH was such a skinny girl and laid great large eggs....when she laid you could actually hear her grunt! and her body would get all scrunched up....Ittook her like 3 minutes to recover before she jumped out of the nest.....like she was in a daze....Ohhh I love watching them! This is a picture of Mumford our sweet BR "helping" another chicken lay her egg....Mumford had already laid her egg and she never was broody....she was literally acting like she was going tolay another egg,laying all over the other hen....silly chickens...
