It looks like a coyote with a bad case of mange. Mange is very common in coyotes. Many people on this site might not like this but, I work in wildlife rehab and I have a young coyote that looks just like that now. I had one like that last year and with meds the mange cleared up and she looked like a regular coyote. I don't want to start a debate whether or not rehabbing coyotes is right or not and I don't want to make anyone angry. It is a personal choice for me. But yep, that is a mangy coyote.

I've seen a video of a racoon with mange so bad it was mistaken for a chupacabra. It looked really scarry but not like the thing in this photo. I know this will open up the opportunity for some really great jokes, but.....is it possible for a coyote and a racoon to produce an offspring? That's almost what it looks like....with a bad case of mange....

In no case has a dog been found completely hairless. So in my little world the only reasonable anwser could be something along the lines of someone tossing a hairless dog in the wild and it cross breeding with another wild dog thus creating a hairless gene that very well could resurface at a later date in the Dogs Breeding tree. Genetics can Remain dormant for several generations and once cross bred can never truly be bred back out.
Take a Pitbull with 2 colored eyes. Is it really a Pitbull? Absolutly not Somewhere in its pedigree it was bred into a staffordshire terrier then they attempted to bred the staff back out resulting in Blue colored dogs different colored eyes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Staffordshire_Bull_Terrier. this is just my theory I bred and rescued Pitbulls for years threw A.D.B.A - U.K.C and - A.A.D.R Are chupacaruba's real? Who knows! What I do know is scientist Find new species of animals each and every year lets take our famous chickens for example. There are cases where the dinosaur traits of thousands of years still resurface in Chickens and some in rare cases are born with Claws on there wings. theres several pics here on this very forums.
My point to this long ramble is simple Do not doubt what you don't know Genetics are genetics and everything came from something. Just don't depend on the media to give you a straight story, Cause it isn't ever gonna happen.

MMPoultryfarms; Thank you for that info. I learn so much on this forum. Understanding mange makes me a little less scared of it. As far as pictures of things that I have no idea what they are, well, that's why I started this thread. I'm actually curious as to what others have seen and couldn't identify. I'm pretty sure that I'm not completely crazy an am considered a reasonable person, and, I keep an open mind to the posibility of things existing that I just don't know about.

Awww, that poor critter looks terrible. Even though coons are a pain, that is just plain sad.
While I cant confirm the existance of the chupacabra I almost got eaten by the lock ness monster.

Looks like some sort of dog to me. Then they showed raccoon prints in the mud.
I thought the chupacabra was supposed to be an alien-looking humanoid with didgitigrade hind legs and reptile-like skin.
