I have had 4 hawk attacks since 2002.
And only one was fatal. Only because she was stund to death from the anitial attack.
I have had a young hawk sit 2 feet from one of my roosters. And he didnt harm him. All I did was shoo him away.
I had a silkie hen and her babies get attacked. I was in the house for a few seconds when I hurd the squacking. I looked out the window and it almost looked like it was her fighting with another hen. Feathers were flying everywhere. I ran outside and I started to scream. That darn hawk tried to take her.. She was trying to protect her chicks.. She managed to do that. The only thing she lost was all her tail feathers. She was so brave.
I have had a hawk carry one of my ducks away up in a very tall tree. It was very scary. Atleast the duck was smart enough to fight it. And he managed to get away. I still have that duck too.
I had one girl duck get swooped up right in front of me. I ran as fast as I could. Honestly the hawk flew a few inches over my head and I smacked it and it let go of her. It was so scary. But I wasnt about to let the hawk take her away. Matter of fact I still have her to and now she is broody on some eggs as I speek lol
I don't like the thought of a hawk takeing one of my birds. But its life and they have to eat. No matter if its a pet duck or a wild one. They dont care either way. To them its food.
