Every freakin' year this happens

2 or 3 times a year our mailbox goes a kaput. The plows take it out or someone hits it. We are on our 3rd post and our mailbox looks like it has been through a war. Last time we literally just banged out the dents and spray painted it. The door is long gone. Same with the flag. And today...BAM. Hit again. I didnt catch them and they drove off but they clearly slide into it full speed. They broke the post off inside the ground. I called our post office and they said they dont care what we use as long as its the correct height. I'm just so sick of it.

Get a 6' length of scrap rail track and concrete it upright into the ground. That'll slow anyone down that hits it! Its infuriating when someone damages your property and just leaves it. No matter how insignificant they think it is someone will have to repair it.

Of all the times this has happened we have only had one person ever stop. She was 16 and she offered to pay for it. We told her it was fine and thanked her for trying to do the right thing. It's not worth our deductable to involve insurance. We find pieces of peoples cars all of the time from them doing this. The SO is on his way home. I let him know what happened and he said he's "going to build something" when he gets home. We dont want anyone to get hurt. We just want our mail!its the first snow of the season but our box has already been hit 3 times this year. It doesnt have to be bullet proof. It just has to stop the destruction.

There's actually 2 sets of tracks. I think this was on purpose

The tracks dont match up. Almost like they hit it and then backed up and hit it again. Notice how the two tracks cross by the telephone pole. Very odd. Wish I had seen it and not just heard it. Those logs are the only thing holding that poor girl up

I don’t know what your bylaws are like but is it worth finding 2 big rocks/boulders and putting 1 on each side?

The post office said we can do whatever is necessary as long as it meets their height and distance requirements.

Makes you wish they made a rubber mailbox and post. They could run over it all day long and it wouldn't hurt it.
