I received 5 one year old White Leghorns two weeks ago. As of today, I have collected 30 eggs. It seems one chicken lays consistently. The most eggs I have collected in one day is 3, but that is seldom. I heard this breed 'lays like crazy'. Shouldn't I be collecting 5 eggs most days? Am I being impatient? Please share your thoughts.

If they are 5 they may not lay , I have 3 year olds . I have been told by 3 they may not lay anymore mine do but just an idea they may be too old i don't know much about white leghorns but i hope this helps

Yes, after reading my post I see I have a misplaced modifier. I have 5 one year old chickens. The one that lays consistently was laying her egg under the coop (I think it was Zara). It seems that Eugenie has taught her to lay in the nest. I think Beatrice is also laying occasionally, but Diana and Kate do not seem to be laying. I'm off work for the long weekend and plan to spend time with them in the morning to see if I can decipher exactly who is laying, who is not.
