Like YOWWIE!!! Tilly sucks on my fingers cuz she was a bottle baby, not a big deal right? She was sucking on my fingers while I was looking the herd over, I was not paying attention to her. SHE SWIVELED HER HEAD SIDEWAYS AND CHOMPED DOWN ON MY FINGER WITH HER MOLARS!!! THE TEARS! THE BRUISE!! THE PAIN!!

I LOVE MY GOATS!! We have 107 goats, they are all kiko. We have 2 bottle goats right now, Flutter heart, and June. Flutter heart is funny, she will chase me around the yard, she is really fast! Here's some pics of my goats, the first one is June, the second one is Pointhorn with the babies she had last week, Freedom and Patriot. The third pic is Timber, he was one of our bottle goats from last year, then the fourth is flutter heart.

Wow!😍 Beautiful goats! I love those horns, so swirly and pretty. I've actually never seen Kiko until now, though I have heard of them.

Soooooo Adorbs‼️🥰😍

what kind of goats do you have?
Registered mini Nubians, they're a cross between Nubian and Nigerian dwarf goats. They're mostly milk goats but can be used for meat since they're well fleshed. They eat half the feed that a standard sized Nubian would eat but they also make two thirds of the milk. Docile and goofy, and just plain sweet.

The pecan trees in the background of my previous picture went down today. All the goats are fine, they're eating the trees now. Here's pics.

Toad staring at my camera very intensely 😂. As you can see he has horns, we normally don't let that happen.

I saw this thread and thought this may be a good spot, we don't have goats, but are interested in getting a few, researching/googling and doing all of that first, however, looking for input on all things goats from those who have goats? are they low maintenance/high maintenance (I understand this depends on the each persons definition :) )? how much land do you have fenced for your goats? Thanks so much in advance!!!

High maintenance, but only in certain situations.
There's really only two ways to keep them in my opinion: dry lot, and rotation pasture.
Dry lot is what I'm doing, the only green stuff they get is branches hanging into their pen, or small stuff that I give them occasionally. They can't eat off of the ground or they get worms, worms take them down fast. You can't treat them once a month either or the worms will gain immunity and you will lose your goat. Petting zoos do this, that's the only way they can keep goats alive without pumping them full of workers.
Rotation pasture is great, but it's also expensive. You have to be extremely diligent about moving them. Goats are really supposed to eat brush, once you see them look to the ground for their food you'll be dealing with worms.

Other than that, they are fairly low maintenance. They need lots of hay, lots of water, and in my experience they should never be without their mineral. Goats that don't have minerals are weaker against worms.

I LOVE them! They're really sweet and just such easy keepers. In the beginning I lost quite a few, there were lots of really difficult lessons to be learned. I'm still here though! I've finally figured out how to manage them and how to keep them healthy.

What breeds would you want?
