When you say dry lot...is it just dirt? We would not be doing the rotation pasture either.
Right now they actually have a little grass in there, it'll be gone soon. I started out with them in a huge pasture but they ate all the brush and started grazing on the ground. They had worm overloads. Goats don't gain immunity to them like cows or sheep do, that's the one thing that really frustrates me sometimes.

What breeds do you have? We haven't made any decisions yet on breed. Do you use any of your goats for milk?

Mini Nubians. They're for milk. I wake up every morning at 5:30 to milk them and I do it again in the evening at 6. Some of my girls make a gallon a day and others make about 3/4 of a gallon.
I love Mini Nubians for their small size and their beautiful looks and personalities.

They are adorable!!
Thanks!😊
They're sweet too, most other goats are super bouncy and rotten, but mini Nubians are just super chill and affectionate. They're a cross between Anglo Nubians and Nigerian Dwarves, they're docile and a bit tall like the Nubian and they're spunky and small like the Nigerian dwarf.

How are everyone's goaties doing?

I must be crazy...we just brought home two Nigerian Dwarf bucklings. They are 4 and 5 weeks old and still on the bottle...as if I don't have enough to do (lol)! They will be our herd sires someday, we hope.

Pardon the poor pics...

I love them😍
Bottle babies are the best!
Although, one of my more dangerous bucks was bottle fed, he just had no boundaries. My current buck is kinda scary, but he seems to understand that I won't be pushed around. Prince Ali is about as big as his mom now, and he is really sweet.

Is this tread still active?? I'm going with no since nobody has chatted on it since December...
It's and on and off kind of thread. There should be some baby goats on the ground, so people may want to post new pics.
December is not a fun month to own goats, and early spring is a hard time because of babies being born, worming, starting milking, hoof trimming (spring rain ruins those hooves) and, they usually just don't look very glamorous, since summer and fall are their best months 😂
I'll post baby pics later.

Do you have goats?
