Everything is on fire.

You guys are a whole different level of burning up. Your fire season this year has been crazy!
Seriously!!
My DH works outside near huge fields and two weeks ago, during the heatwave, they witnessed a random guy starting a fire and leaving! Luckily fire department put it out before it was out of control but I just cannot imagine why a person would be so cruel. Natural disaster is one thing but deliberately insensitive individuals are beyond me 😖
Then, last night we saw a fire in the distance but I haven't found a news article so I assume they put it out as well 🤞
Just hoping for the best and for everyone... firefighters, evacuees, the farmers and animals who have to be released or evacuated... That has to be one of the toughest decisions.

That sounds terrible; I hope all of you and your animals stay safe! Over here in the Peninsula, the sun is not shining, but at least there is no ash &c.
There is ash everywhere here. I just drove an hour to salem and donated supplies to the fair grounds. The sky was red that whole time. I feel safer for my animals that our farm is not too close to any fires now! But my parents house is. I am staying here just in case they need help. You can see the fire burning down the trees on the mountain its so close. Our community has been amazing in helping each other. Cowboy 911-oregon is now cowgirl 911-oregon if anybody can help! Supplies are what is really needed. Pens and cages for live stock. Feed and bedding! The fairgrounds are full of refugees and the animals need basic supplies! Even leashes or leads and halters are useful! Old tack and feeders. Alot of people couldn't grab that kind of stuff

It is a terrible feeling - happily we're only in the 'level 1' area now, but we're on heavily forested land and all it takes is an ember carried on the wind. This morning it was so dark here that at 10am the vast majority of my flock were still in the coop on their roosts because it was that dark. The air quality changes depending on the wind direction - we're getting a good coating of ash right now. If it comes this way my only hope of saving the chickens is to put them in the house crawlspace. Yep, that sounds bad but it's actually really big and is the coolest, most protected area on the property and is their only real hope if one of these monster fires makes its way over here.
