Maybe a king snake? Not sure. Wasn't very aggressive.

I'm 99% sure it is a rat snake/chicken snake. Looks like a black-gray mix. You can also tell by the anal scale: rat snake - divided, king snake - single... if you get that close. lol

I had one of those get into my pen and swallow a GOLF BALL that I use to show hens where to lay. He couldn't get out because the golf ball wouldn't crack open and collapse his gut like an egg would. So it was easy to catch him and dispose of him.

Because of the golf ball issue, we ended up killing him. I doubt he would survive trying to digest it.

I second rat snake/ chicken cause kings are normaly going to go after mice or lizzards or other snakes but I guess they could go after the eggs but never had a problem with kings going after my quail when I had them. Had lots of rat and chicken snakes coming around

It looks more like a Kingsnake to me, although it's nearly imposible to be sure from that picture

Not sure where you live but in Texas they sure have a pattern when then reach adulthood!
