Im kicking out my 4 1/2 week olds. They mostly dont even sleep under their mhp anymore. The last couple nights they been sleeping on their roost. We worked all day to get the chicken coop and yard ready for them. I dont need to put that mhp out there right? I feel like the answer is no definitely not. We are in the south and temps might get in the high 40s at night but not for long. Heres a pic for feathering reference.

Will they have something like straw to huddle down into if they feel cold?

Yes i use straw. Usually about a half foot deep.

Our forcasted night time temps this week will be 50s and 60s with one 43 thrown in.

I didnt think so i just needed a bit of reassurance. Thank you! The last few times ive added to the flock ove gotten them at about 5 weeks old and it was in February and we never gave them heat . they went straight to the coop. But ive raised these from day olds and it feels so different

I have 3 day old baby teeny tiny quail that I will be putting outside with no heat in a day or two.

I have three midnight Marans and three sapphire gems that hatched Match 15 who are being relocated to the outside coop within the week. Our lows will be in the mid to high 40s except one night we are expected to have a low in the high 30s.

They are happy with their little run within the chicken yard.
