I had a sebaceous cyst on my face when I was a freshman in college. It looked like a mosquito bite to me. My roommates all insisted that it was a pimple and that I should squeeze it. Squeeze it I did, and it just got bigger. I finally went to a doctor and learned that it was a cyst and that I needed a plastic surgeon since it was on the face. The plastic surgeon said he wouldn't operate until the infection from the squeezing was gone. The good, old fashioned Southern plastic surgeon said, go home, put a hot compress on it twice a day for 15 minutes. Make it as hot as you can stand it. Come back in two weeks. The day before I went back, a little hole opened up, some almost dried crud easily was teased out, and a clean hole was left. After the surgery, I had five sutures on my face. The scar is barely visible. I swear by the hot compress now.
