Ex-Bat with squinty eyes

Hi all,

I recently took on 5 ex-battery farm hens. All of which are doing great but I am a bit concerned for one of them.

Her eyes are quite swollen, not puffy swollen but she looks like she is scowling or is very tired. Day to day she has seemed generally well, she eats and drinks no problem and even has a go at the other hens to show them who is boss so isn’t really showing any other signs of ill health. I have checked her over and there are no signs of runny nose or any sort of discharge coming from her eyes etc. Some days its worse than others but yesterday she was very “scowly” and didn’t move around much.

Her eyes where like this from the day I got her and I have just put it down to stress.

I have tried to read up on what it could be and I’m worried it could be “Mycoplasmosis” as this is the only thing that makes any reference to “eyes” in the list of symptoms, but she is not displaying any other symptoms from what I can tell.

Has anyone had anything like this before with their girls?

it may not be anything

all my ex bats squint like that and look like they tired

that's what a dark battery cage does to them

all that darkness their eyes are not that good with bright light

after a year of having mine they still have that look about them
