hi Highlander...you can ask/say whatever you wish...i take no offence. i know you only have the best intrests of the chickens at heart

After lots of tears and hard work we got the river running through the land fenced off so none of the poultry could get near it and giving only tap water to drink, since then we've not had a single death or illness....egg production is the best its ever been and the animals look so much more full of life. we've since found out not only the sugarbeet factory in the next town, but half the houses along the river all have there 'waste' draining into the water.....and this was the water my poor chickenns were drinking every day

no wonder they were sick.
i would have rather waited at least another month before bringing in new chickens...but these little hens didnt have a month to wait. it was take them this week or not at all. the are however happily in a corner of the next field, away from the other hens......so we'll have to see how it goes. please dont think its wrong of me bringing in more hens after we lost so many at the beginning of the year. im 99% positive we found the cause and made moves to solve the problem..which up until now (touch wood) seems to be working!!

wow, the river huh? I live in an agricultural area in Colorado, thank goodness we don't have that issue...bless you for taking on so many rescues, 10,000.....my lord....what a shame. I have rescued Greyhounds, and I know the plight of so many animals, sadly we can't save them all...sleep well knowing you are doing a great thing! I know, they are "only chickens" as my hubby would put it, but even he has a soft heart, I have seen him give mouth to mouth to a new born calf trying to save it!

Please post pics when you feel the need to!

Kudos to you for saving these hens. They look happy to be outside in the fresh air.
