Excessive amount of Ants in duck coop

I'm not recommending this, but when I was a kid my dad would have me carry the gas can and we'd go around pouring gas in their ant hills and set them on fire.

I don't think it really ever worked very well and it was extremely dangerous but damn I had fun as a kid hahaha

GEEZ! XDDDDD yeah I’m definitely not doing that :p praying them with hose water helped tho. My dad sprayed them and there were suddenly way less! i don’t know where the anthills are…

@Summer_ The only real way to get rid of ants is to kill the queen, which is why they sell those ant bait traps. I'm not sure if that would make the ants dangerous to the chickens or not, but it's something to look into.

I really wouldn't recommend spraying anything where your ducks can get to it. Ducks love to dig down deep in the dirt/mud with their bills and most sprays linger for several days after you apply them.

There seems to be some merit to the old wives tale that cinnamon stops ants dead in their tracks; the science seems to indicate that something in it messes with their sense of direction. Perhaps google it and see if that would be a solution for you.

I read somewhere that they don’t like mint. I tried putting some in the middle of their group and they immediately made a circle around it.

They don’t really go near the ants, but I think that’s because I put their water box thingy in front of the ants. I think they would go for them if they could see them

Off topic but I just saw 5 huge birds either falcons or hawks Fly above our house. I put the ducks back in the coop, but, well, ants r there.
