Hi there. I haven’t stopped by for awhile but I have a question. Gladys is an almost seven year old Peking pet. She seems very healthy and is very happy. She molted for a few weeks in Nov/Dec. Over the last two weeks she’s at it again and it seems excessive even though she still looks fluffy when she spreads her wings. Any advice! Diet changes? It has been a really cold January here in North Carolina. Thanks.

It has been cold here. lol Well what do you feed Gladys? do you give out treats!

I had chickens and ducks molting up into Jan because they got such a late start because of the warm fall. Not sure why Gladys would be molting now unless she has been under stress or moved into a warm building? But this warm spell may trigger some molting too but it has just started.

She does have an indoor habitat at night during extreme cold, under 20 degrees F. Dumors layer pellets and meal worm treats. Last week. Happy Duck.

She beautiful . Pekins always have a smile on their face. Other than what your doing you could add some kitty food to her treats for extra protein that will help with feathers along with the mealworms. My birds love Members Mark Salmon and Peas dry dog food.

Thanks folks! I’ll try some extra protein. She loves to eat. Not expecting super cold for at least 20 days so she’ll be back to her outdoor house and yard for awhile. Hopefully till winter returns in November!
