Ok,so back in April I purchased six chicks from a local hatchery. Two of pretty much everything. Two welsummers, four Brahmas (light and buff),three Easter eggers,Two Jersey Giants,3 lavender orpingtons, and two polish.Their about 11 1/2 weeks, maybe twelve and it’s pretty obvious who male and female.6 males to 10 females, bummer but it’s whatever,I’ll be getting rid of four of the boys an keeping two.
Both welsummers happens to be girls thankgod, and are EXTREMELY TALKATIVE,Obnoxious birds. And it’ll be at the most random times one makes this weird sound that I can’t figure it out.I have had a hen who was loud like this and would make this obnoxious similar call but this is just different. The wellie making this sound almost sounded like a young cockerel getting ready to crow, somewhat. Most cockerels crows are terrible but you can defiantly different a crowing cockerel and a odd sounding pullet.Infirta notices the birds were so loud the other day when I let them out in the morning. The wellie was on the coop talking her mouth off, and then she makes this long sounding BAWWWK.Its such an odd noise I wish I could catch it on record but she does it randomly I’m almost not expecting it.Im wondering if it’s just her using her new voice( I took a two week trip and came back to my birdies actually talking like adults)so yes this this new voice is new and I have never had a bird make a sound like this, any idea of what it is?
I set her young birds who begin laying early and only can think that this bird might possibly be talking so much do to her preparing for lay, but I seriously doubt that. Both welsummers are turning reddish in the face so that’s another thing that made me think I might have two birds who might lay early.
