So, we got some silkies about 3 weeks ago, and since all 9 of my hens that are laying age all decide to use the same nesting box everyday, you guessed it one went broody. Well in order to entertain her i marked an egg and left it under her, and would collect all the fresh eggs that she would steal every night. well we are 14-16 days along now and i just candled for the second time, last week i wasnt to sure if anything was happening, but tonight we have a good solid air sac and definite movement, so we are pretty excited, especially since this is our first go at hatching anything even though a broody is doing all the work. ready for the scary part... the only rooster in the run that is mating age at the time, was a cornish game, and i have no idea who mommy could be, its a toss up between a RIW cross, 2 dominiques, or a silver laced wyandotte. so... if it does hatch...just how ugly is this little thing gonna be?????????
heres the might be mommies...

Yup I have to agree I am scared to know what it is going to look like but I am going to love it anyways. You never know it may become the prettiest chicken we have. LOL
