Well all the bracing is done and all predator proofed , I just have the roof to put on and seal the spaces between the rafters.

Looking good, not too much more to do!

Started my day harvesting this deck material from a friend to build.an awesome 8x10 coop with storage space and ended the day like this.

We're thrilled to announce that our chicks are home and doing well. We brought them home today and they are now 6 weeks old. I'm still not done with the roof on the run and they appear to need a little more time with some supplemental heat before we set them up outside. They don't stay under the heat lamp but keep moving back to it occasionally . We were gonna bring them inside but a few things have happened to make that not a possibility, so for now I have taken the seats out of my winter beater minivan that i dont need to drive right now and set up there brooder in that. They are lively even with outside the van temps at 35 right now. Under the heat lamp is warm so I'm hoping they will be fine ? A lot of what I've read here says without drafts and some supplemental heat as an option and they should be fine. I'm open to any input y'all may have though.

They are acclimating fine to this temporary home. I added a roost bar for entertainment and training due to the fact that the largest cockerel French Toast was roosting on the water jar lol. The heat lamp is only a 60w lamp with the ceramic fixture and the white bulb is the same. I have them clamped to the kennel roof and a wrench slide through the handle so they can't fall in. They are lively so I think their happy .

Roof on and rafters closed up. It's ready, and I'm so excited. Chicks will stay in the van till they're 8 weeks old I think then transition to the coop.

Also 4 of the 6 have names. God help me lol. The three roosters are French toast, Pancakes, Sausage and the smallest Hen is Saltine.

All the materials except the 2x3 boards was donated by friends and family. I got some eggs to give away I guess when they start laying.
