I've had my little flock of five for a little over a month now. One of my employee's neighbors needed to re-home his large flock so my employee took all of them and I took 5. I have 2 Buff Orpington hens and 3 chicks about 6 weeks old. I believe one is a Buff Orpington, one is a Silkie and the 3rd I'm not sure about ( I plan on posting a photo soon to see if anyone knows). I don't know whether the chicks are pullets or Roos yet. I've learned tons just by reading posts so I decided to join! I've wanted chickens for years and finally took the plunge and I'm loving it!

My husband and I own a pet resort. We board dogs and cats and have a grooming salon. We are big animal lovers. We have two teenage daughters. In my free time I like to camp, garden and show dogs!

Welcome to BYC! You have some sweet, gentle, friendly breeds. I've had Black Silkies in the past and still keep some Buff Orpingtons in my flock for their beauty and gentle temperament. Just post that picture of the third one and hopefully we can identify it for you. Good luck with your flock.

I wonder when you manage to have free time. Sound very busy to me. I used to have a grooming shop & raise and show Cockers in the late 60's to 80's. What breed(s) do you show?

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Make yourself at home here and welcome to our flock!

Well we have really good employees which makes owning our business a lot easier. I showed English Setters for years but now I have Miniature Long Haired Dachshunds (and one Standard).

Welcome to BYC!! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

Best wishes to you, your flock (love those buff orps!!) and dogs!
