We have a mixed flock that we bought from a friend, all hens for laying. I am in the process of adding 4 gold orpington's and a couple of black ones (I don't reacall their name at the moment) to our laying flock. Along with the new chicks I also bought a coupole of banty's just for fun! A lot of people just kept telling me how cute they were! Well again, what have I gotten myself into? The bigger chickens were squeezing them out of the brooder so I rescued them out and they have been living in a washtub in my home office for the last couple of weeks and we have all made the best of friends. We bring them out when people are over and visit. However, this has posed a problem of following them around cleaning up their chicken mess!
So . . . yesterday I discovered that there are actually chicken diapers and I am so excited! I can't believe there are actually chicken diapers! They will solve all my problems! So in searching for some decent priced ones and trying to figure out how they work, I discovered the lady on here who makes them. So I was finally forced to join the board!
This message board has been a wealth of information for us with our new chickens and has helped us through the learning process. Thank you all for the knowledge of chickens you post on here. Our new flock would have been a lot more difficult without all of you!
With live on a small farm on the western side of the United States surrounded by our family within a mile or so. My hubby makes frenchfries for a living and I do payroll at our local school district! We also have a couple of horses, a cat, two dogs at this time, but we are getting a new Rhodesian Ridgeback pup within the next couple of weeks! Our kids are all grown and working or in college and we are very, very lucky people to live such happy lives!
Anyway, that's me in a nutshell, now if you'll excuse me, I have to go find the chicken diaper lady!
