Exhausted, limping Welsh Harlequin Duckling. :(

How old is it? Just remember that you'll have to supervise her if she's young, and especially since her leg doesn't seem to be so good right now... I went and checked on the heat in my tote brooder and it seems like it WAS pretty hot even though I had the lamp lifted up higher. So, I switched brooders, and this one is more open to let the heat out. they seem to like it better too since it's bigger. :)

I got my duck last year at an auction, so I don't know her exact age. She's quacking LOUD, running, digging, eating, drinking, so I know she feels alright. She's limping just enough to call it a "limp". She's okay.

I find I need to change kiddie pool water more frequently in warm weather, sometimes once a day, and certainly the two times I found drowned rodents in it.

But there are a number of health benefits from daily bathing, so I aim to keep it available. In extreme cold we had to go without for several weeks couple of years ago. The ducks would wash off in their water pot. So I would give them fresh water first thing in the morning, then change it again, because they would use that first pot for bathing, then drink from the second fill up.

When my Swedish had Angel wing, I always wrapped it at night so that she could flap her wings while she was in the pool-helping her to strengthen her muscles, and learn to tuck her wing feathers where they belong. She would only flap her wings when the water was clean, and fresh though so I ended up refilling it twice a day, and now I do it once a day: each morning. It really helps them fix whatever is wrong with their wings/legs. :)
