exhibition/heritage Barred Rocks - History, breeding, and discussion

Just joining in and would also love to acquire some heritage barred rocks and help to restore and promote this breed. I am seeking hatching eggs if anybody should be ready and willing to part with a few.

In the meantime, I stumbled across this barred rock folk art sculpture by artist Thomas Langan that I thought you guys might get a kick out of!

Not sure if I'm going to continue with Barred Rocks. Buckeyes are my #1 breed. Then I will chose between Rocks, Leghorns or only Buckeyes.

I did hatch a nice trio of Rocks from a real good breeder. Will post pictures if I can find my camera.

I would travel a few hundred miles to get some chicks from a good line of heritage barred rocks, and if you had a good line of heritage rir's that would be a bonus. I still want the breed to be a productive egg producer as they should, along with feathering out in a 6 to 8 week period. I will pay in advance and would even trade some lavender orpington chicks for some if interested. I would prefer the best lines out there.

Ok so the 'metalic luster' on a BR pullet would DQ her from poultry shows?? just noticed it today...
on the other hand I guess I know what phenotype she carries..
