my order from MEYER HATCHERY shipped lastnight at 4pm. i should have them tommorow morning at my post office. meyer has a login account where you can check your order status.. i checked lastnight and this morning and it said my order was in process i checked again at 330pm today and it said they shipped at 356 pm on 3/7/11. yippee 25, white leghorn females coming. does anyone now if the tracking # works for being able to track there whereabouts. a have a number.

Hey Steve. me and my brother are splitting the 25 leghorns. i have 10, 17 week old ri reds in my grower coop right now that i got a couple weeks ago off of craigslist. drove all the way to poland maine to get them. also have 8 laying hens in my big coop. they are 4 ri reds. 2 white leghorns. 2 black sex links. 4 of those 8 are this years birds. i rehomed 10 older layers about 2 weeks ago to make room for all the new layers. i sell my extra eggs. usually my eggs fly out of the fridge quick. so i figured leghorns and reds should keep the egg flow going.

I've ordered from Ideal twice-once back in Sept. and again in Feb. both times they sent an email confirmation. In Sept. they were shipped on a Wed. and arrived by Fri.; however, in Feb. they shipped on Wed. and didn't arrive until Sat. morning. Unfortunately, we had really low temps (single digits) that week and out of the 26 I ordered 23 arrived DOA and the other 3 (barely alive) died later that afternoon. I'm not sure why it took an extra day for them to arrive, but obviously the cold weather got the best of them. I had been perfectly happy with my purchase from Ideal previously, but needless to say, when I reordered I ordered through My Pet Chicken (Ideal refunded my money, but you never forget the sight of opening a box of dead chicks). Yes, the shipping is quite a bit more with MPC, but it's well worth it in my opinion b/c they are shipped overnight AND they include a heating device to keep the chicks warm.

I fear getting a box full of dead chicks, I know I am setting myself up for a few possibly dead and that is why I am so stoked about getting up first thing in the morning. I am quite surprised they never sent me a confirmation email stating they were shipped, but the girl on the phone said the computer stated they were shipped.
I doubt I will sleep well again tonight in anticipation of those chicks arriving safe.

Ironic, I ordered from Ideal after 2 tragic shippings from MPC.
