Experience at TSC

Haven't been there before but I helped my Dad when I was a kid.My hubby has hunted and processed game for years and he and I will do the deed ourselves since this is not much different. I want to know that the food I eat was raised with compassion and I will honor the life they give to sustain me.

TSC doesn't always have CornishX, but in my area they did have Brahmas and Dark Cornish which are traditional meat birds with better survival and better foraging skills than CornishX. I think they're doing a good thing selling the traditional meat birds because some chick purchasers don't know about the early mortality with CornishX.

Most folks want RIR or PR pullets and they definitely had those and sold out quickly. :)

You can inquire in your local area about processing. Check local health food stores and if you see free-range chicken sold get the name of the farm and research their website or call them to see who processes them. Be sure and do this well ahead of time if you are contemplating meat birds but don't want to do it yourself.

I've got 5 Dark Cornish fuzzies in wirh 7 assorted banties in my Baby Box. The Dark Cornish are sweet!! I'd like to see 'em eventually breed with some of the dual-purpose Jersey Giants and barred rocks that hang out here! My Pre-School box has 8 assorted banties from another feed store.... :)

Eventually one of these banties might be an egg-setter....unlike the current RIR's that sqwawk and then hop off the nest in an hour... :)

I went to my local TSC and all they has was BO's and a few ducks. No more BO's here. I've had my fill of those birds. I asked if they knew what was order and they didn't. I found that strange. She said I could ask the manager. I told her no thanks. I'd rather work with 30 settin hens rather that do that. So won't know what they have till Monday morning when they go to the PO.

I do have 9 fertile GLW eggs I think I'll just buy a incubator and hatch my own. Those are some really nice chickens. Great eggs.

Now that you asked, the manager of the TSC came down to Griffin Ga from somewhere above the MDL and seems to have been sent to hell, from his attitude. He does not like it here and he don't like us. When I told the clerk I didn't care to talk to him she said she hears a lot of that. I think it's his last stop before he looks for different work. Not good for TSC but then I don't really know if it matters to them.
