I see you are in Texas - it is MUCH different spring than Northwest Seattle area. Yesterday the teperature was 62 degrees, and was windy. I only took them for 30 min . The other guys were JUST FINE. But this one - he was the livliest and strongest always - he was not himself after that. Would just stand right under the lampwith his feathers up and today I discovered his come(usually so red) got pale. I saw him biting food here and there just a little in the morning, but now he is just sitting there ander lamp and sleeping all the time.
I just think if it would be digestive problem( I did put som chunk of compost for them couple days ago to find some worms and bugs) - then why he would not sit all the time unde the lamp like he can not get enough of it?

Our high temps today and yesterday were in the lower 60's here. My chicks and turkey poults spent a few hours out yesterday and today. If they start with those distress PEP PEEP PEEP its time to put them back in the brooder. I'm originally from Pennsylvania. I raised the little buggers there as well. IMHO its healthier for the chicks to get as much outside time as they can. In Pa. I remember seeing peeps out with snow on the ground. Of course Mamma hen was right there to warm them up when needed, but it was in the snow. I hope your little guy starts feeling better soon.

Butch good thank you for your input - good to know that . He DID peep just like you said - he seemed to be in distress. So I put them back. But 30 min of exposure should not do TOO much harm. I also believe and pray he recovers.

I will chime in with another thought...your chick could have been exposed to coccidia while out, or in the compost pile. If it is staying ruffled up, I would put it on Corrid (at pet supply) right away. I would treat everyone at the same time - you put it in their water (1/8 tsp per 4 cups I think) There are lots of threads on here for that. I really do not think 30 minutes outside would have done it harm like that. I have hens who have raised chicks and by day 2 or 3 they spend long stretches of time outside with the momma hen with her warming them up occasionally, but not as often as we would think. It is so frustrating that they can't tell you what is wrong! Hang in there!

Thank you! Gonna get corrid. strange - they were raised on medicated feed and organic fermented - I did both to be sure they do not get the cocci

Hmmm... greenish sounds like something it ate. Search and look of the Cocci threads on here and see what you think. Just be sure to take them off medicated feed while doing corrid. It has something in it that stops them from absorbing what they need. Sorry, I don't remember all the terminology, but any of the Cocci threads on here with help! Medicated feed can help, but they can still get Cocci.

I got to the Animal Grub store and got Corid. Man , this stuff is SO EXPENSIVE 22 $ per bag. I will watch the chick before I give him and read more about cocci to make sure it is the COCCI. If it is not- I wold prefer to return it to the store

I did went ahead and gave him some Corid in water. He drank some. He ate a little oatmeal in yoghurt and even some boiled egg ( I had to distract other birds with the boiled egg treat, so he can be left alone to eat his oat-yoghurt treat. So he walked around somewhat and pecked around. Still holding on!! Thank to those who reads and replies. You support helped a lot.
I also dipped his beak in Pedialite with honey and gave him a little Karo as some of you recomended.

Natalijaasby I just got back online and see that you had one heck of a day. You can exchange their water for Pedialite with the honey and it won't hurt any of them. I actually give it to all of mine as soon as they go in the brooder if they are brought in from an outside source, like the feed store. In essence you'll be helping him replace electrolytes that he could be losing with the diarrhea. I should have told you that you can get the tetracycline at most feed stores. It sounds like you've done all you can for this little fellow, so give yourself a break and take care of yourself now.
